 Adolescent Treatment Program

The Adolescent Treatment Program is a foster care based comprehensive treatment program that has been providing individualized treatment programming for youths and their families since 1978.  The ATP at TSA is an incredibly effective model of service delivery.

The Adolescent Treatment Program is a foster care based comprehensive treatment program that attends to the unique needs of clients with a multitude of issues. We are experienced in working with youths and their families with a myriad of mental health, chemical health challenges, family issues, and childhood trauma experiences. Many of the youths we work with have experienced their families’ need for Child Protection Services. We consider our client: the youth and their family and welcome, encourage and invite family involvement in the treatment experience.

Distinctive Characteristics of TSA's Adolescent Treatment Program

  • Family home setting and community living.
  • Therapeutic milieu experience at the TSA Youth Center/Hilltop House.
  • Professional services provided by experienced mental health professionals, practitioners and case managers.
  • Medical, psychiatric, school liaison and support services.
  • Individual, group and family psychotherapy and skills training service provided.
  • Coordinated services and wrap-around care.
  • Treatment Team model.

Client’s length of placement and participation in the treatment program at TSA is based on individual need and case plan.

Treatment Team

Care and services are facilitated by each youth’s Treatment Team, which includes their foster parents, mental health professionals and practitioners providing individualized services and their TSA Case Manager. The Treatment Team meets weekly to coordinate treatment progress.

Parents and Referring Workers, Guardian Ad Litems and other significant persons in the youth’s life are included in case planning, treatment focus and progress review by participating in Intakes, Treatment Plan development, progress review, discharge planning.

Group Therapy/Skills Training

One highlight of the Adolescent Treatment Program is the group skills sessions. During this structured group session, clients will learn, practice and apply essential social and friendship skills that will be reinforced throughout their ATP experience at TSA. Some skills include:

  • Self Awareness
  • Self-Esteem
  • Teen Stress
  • Decision Making
  • Problem Solving
  • Relationship Development
  • Coping Skills

Groups offered are specific to age, gender, and based on client need.

Milieu Experience

  • Group skills session
  • Specific social skills activities

  • Journaling and other guided reflective exercises
  • Relationship building and friendship development with adults and peers

Family Involvement

FAMILIES ARE INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN FAMILY THERAPY AND/OR SKILLS TRAINING SERVICES WEEKLY. Home visits are an important part of the youth and family’s treatment experience. We enjoy positive relationships with parents/families and respect teens having family connections, relationships and time together. Families are generally encouraged to call their teen, visit, and work closely with the Treatment Team.

TSA supports family reunification when possible and permanency for each teen.

Summer Experiences

TSA has expanded its program opportunities to include a Partial Day Treatment Program during the summer for youth who would benefit from our services but whom do not require foster care placement.  This wonderful Partial Day Treatment opportunity at TSA is designed to provide structure, skill development, and a fun memorable experience.  Youth will participate in programming with an assigned peer group learning how to make friends, get along with others, problem solve, and demonstrate how to make responsible choices.  The Partial Day Treatment includes the milieu experience and group experience.
