 Respite Care

Respite care is a service of short-term, temporary care for children/teens who may have special needs to provide time for their families to be relieved of primary care responsibilities and/or to provide additional opportunities for youths to experience care from other care providers than their parents. TSA is available to support youths and their families by providing respite care services to those children/teens who have significant mental health and or behavioral problems and or family stressors.

TSA provides weekend or weekday respite care services to children and their families who are in need of time-limited breaks in caring for their child(ren). Respite is seen as a collaborative parenting effort with the sending and receiving families of the child. Both TSA foster parents and the sending family will work together to provide a safe, nurturing and cohesive respite experience for the child. As the child is matched with a TSA foster home, the length, frequency and duration of the respite experience is determined by TSA, the child's family, and county worker.
